About me

I work with businesses to make sure their content delivers business and marketing objectives across the buyer journey. I create content. I develop content strategy and messaging frameworks. I write policy and guidance. I coach and train.

I’m an ideas person with feet planted firmly on the ground.

I love creativity and the art of the possible, but I also keep a clear focus on the purpose of a project and the practicalities of delivering to deadlines.

I work directly with clients or as part of a third-party agency or consultancy team. I play whatever role is needed. I’m happy to work in any context, including complex global, matrixed environments.

My career has spanned over 30 years and has included working in-house, in my own agency and as an independent consultant.

I’ve designed and implemented content strategy and tone of voice, and coached, consulted and trained for over 50 companies, largely in professional services and IT. I have banged the drum for clear, authentic communication against the prevailing business cliche.

My most recent in-house stint was at EY (2007 to 2021), where I was a director in EY’s global brand, marketing and communications team. There I led various teams, created and implemented a new global content strategy and played key roles in two rebrands, a major global reorganisation, the rebuild of global ey.com and other content-related transformation initiatives.

My most recent consultancy projects include messaging frameworks; competitor reviews with recommendations for distinctive positioning; new website content prototyping; process redesigns; and transformation and learning initiatives.

I have also gone back to my business-writing roots and produced white papers and web copy.
